CGAP and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led a webinar to explore the unique operational, strategic and especially financial analysis challenges of the PAYGo solar business model. Presenters summarized findings from the CGAP-IFC paper "Strange Beasts: Making Sense of PAYGo Business Models" before leading a discussion with a co-founder of M-KOPA Solar and an expert in financial analysis and accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business about the implications for investors and PAYGo companies.

Pepukaye Bardouille
As part of IFC's Energy & Water Advisory group, Pepukaye Bardouille's work focuses on developing markets for modern energy access solutions, helping to scale commercially viable business models to extend electricity and clean fuels to the base of the pyramid. She has previously worked in management consulting, advising clients in the power, oil and gas, mining, and public sectors across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East on strategy, organization, and operations.

Alexander Sotiriou leads CGAPs Financial Innovations for Development (FI4D) project, which aims to identify and catalzye financial innovations that address some of the most presseing challenges in internatinal development, including access to energy, water and education.

Gianmaria Vanzulli has a background in engineering and finance. He has been working for the World Bank Group for seven years in business planning, strategy, and energy access in the Middle East and Africa. His previous experiences are in management consulting, manufacturing, and finance in the United States, Europe, and Latin America

Dan Gode
Dan Gode has been with NYU Stern since 1998, where he teaches courses in corporate financial accounting. His primary research areas include financial analysis, legal liability of firms, valuation, managerial accounting, and performance measurement. He has also taught courses and provided consulting services to numerous corporations, investment banks, hedge funds, and private equity investors.
Chad Larson
Chad Larson
Chad Larson is a co-founder of M-KOPA Solar, a pioneer in the PAYGo solar industry that has connected over 600,000 homes to affordable solar power. He has an extensive work experience in the financial services industry, including as the Head of Structured and Municipal Products at Bank of America and Chief Financial Officer of Africap Microfinance Fund.
