Mmapula Portia Kekana

Mmapula Portia Kekana is a Director for Employment Assistance at South Africa’s National Department of Social Development, which strives to link social welfare recipients to poverty alleviation programs and economic opportunities. Portia began working as a teacher in 1992 before moving into social development planning for a private sector engineering firm. She next served as a senior training adviser at the South African Management Development Institute before becoming a project manager at the National Skills Fund of the National Department of Labour. Portia has been with the National Department of Social Development since 2007 and has been instrumental in many activities of the International Social Security Association.
